IMO the early leveling experience is incredibly boring and doesn't get interesting until level 50 or 60 where mobs start having abilities and don't get 1 shot anymore. The sad thing is when you reach max level, without the expansions any experience you earn is wasted. With expansions your experience goes to a chosen mastery instead.
