💃 Canon 1D Mk Iv Shutter Count
I had been tossing up between a 5D MkIV and a 1DX MkII, and compromised by getting the 5D Mk IV plus the used 1DX. They're a perfect pair with a 7D MkII as a second action body. FWIW the 7D MkII is a match for the 1DX in AI Servo mode, the tracking is just fantastic.
Whether any of the commercial actuation readers, or web based, give an accurate count or not is questionable. The only and I mean only place to get the true correct actual count is from Canon.
Other factors will effect this also. As to the file name and last four digits the 90D numbers each new image in sequence from 0001 to 9999. Again not an accurate way to get shutter count. EB. EOS 1DX and 1D Mk IV and several lenses!

Your best bet if you want an authoritative number is to get Canon do do the count with their in-house software. There will be a charge, but it's the gold standard for getting a count. Note that a shutter count is only part of the story.

The 5D III was rated at 150,000 and the IV is likely to be the same. The new, quieter, lower-vibration shutter mechanism might have greater longevity. (Then again, it might have less. ) You might find the specs are exceeded.
The 1Ds Mk III is still pretty pricy as a lot are still working hard in the pro arena. The 1D Mk IV is the real jewel but still on the high side cost wise. Thanks, I got the same with the 1D III. Same file nr as shutter count nr. But the 1Ds III had a difference. That´s why I wanted to check here with somebody with another 1D III/1Ds III.
